BIOGRAPHY Bryan J. Smith, born October 12, 1981, in Dallas, Texas, U.S., is an American actor, best known for his gay role as Trey in the 2006 independent film, "Hate Crime", and as Lieutenant Matthew Scott in the science fiction television series, "Stargate Universe".
After studying at the highly acclaimed, Quad C Theatre program at the Collin County Community College in Plano, Texas, Smith graduated from the Juilliard School Drama Division's four-year acting program in New York City. Since graduation, he has starred in the indie film "The War Boys," opposite Peter Gallagher and written by award winning playwright Naomi Wallace and Bruce McLeod, and appeared in the thriller "Redhook." In 2005, Smith landed a role as Trey, a gay man facing intolerance from the son of a fundamentalist preacher, in "Hate Crime", an independent film featured at multiple gay and lesbian film festivals around the United States.
Smith also appeared on Broadway in "Come Back," "Little Sheba" opposite Epatha Merkerson, and, off-Broadway, in "Good Boys and True," and "Three Changes," opposite Dylan McDermott and Maura Tierney. In 2009, Smith landed his big break when he was cast as Lieutenant Matthew Scott, in the Stargate television series, "Stargate Universe". View GALLERY:
