BIOGRAPHY Chris Hemsworth, born 11 August 1983, in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, is an Australian actor best known for the part of Kim Hyde in the soap opera "Home and Away" and George Samuel Kirk, Sr. in the blockbuster 2009 film "Star Trek".
Hemsworth came from a family of actors: his older and younger brothers Luke and Liam are actors and have had recurring role as Nathan Tyson and Josh Taylor on Neighbours, respectively. He attended Heathmont Secondary College in Melbourne. In 2004, Hemsworth auditioned for the TV series "Home and Away" for the part of Robbie Hunter (played by Jason Smith), but failed to get the part. He was subsequently recalled for the part of Kim Hyde. He was successful in gaining the role of Kim Hyde and moved to Sydney to join the cast of "Home and Away". He left the cast of Home and Away on 3 July 2007.
Hemsworth landed his big break in 2009 when he portrayed James T. Kirk's father, George Samuel Kirk Sr., in the 2009 Star Trek film and has also recently been signed for "A Perfect Getaway", starring alongside Eric Bana. Hemsworth has been cast in the title role of director Kenneth Branagh’s highly anticipated Marvel Comics adaptation, “Thor” (2011). View GALLERY:
