Matthew Ryan Florida, born November 13, 1984, in Bremond, TX, is an American actor and model.
Florida excelled in Art and Sports (football and track) at Bremond High School and was picked as First-Team, All-State, Defensive-End. He also competed in the Texas State Track Invitational in Austin, two years in a row. His patriotic artwork garnered him many prestigious awards from the George Bush Library, in College Station, TX.
During his high-school, senior year, Florida found a love for acting and won “Best Actor” for his performance as “Lemuel T. Thwackbusher” in the one-act play, “The Cop and the Anthem.”
In his second year at Texas A&M, Florida was spotted by local talent scout, Nikki Pederson, who brought him to the International Talent and Modeling competition in New York City, where he was discovered by Los Angeles talent manager, Peter Kluge at Impact Artists Group. One month later, Matt made a 23-hour road-trip, in his beat-up, pick-up, and landed in LA.
Two weeks later, Florida was auditioning and receiving callbacks for features and primetime TV “Close to Home”, “Friday Night Lights”. Six months later he booked a small role in “The Fast and The Furious 3” and landed the starring role of Ford Decker – the 21 year-old, drop-dead-gorgeous, born leader & fearless college athlete, on the NBC daytime drama, “Days of Our Lives.” This year, Matthew guest-starred on the CBS dramas, “Ghost Whisperer,” & “Cold Case,” Hallmark Channel’s “Love Finds A Home” and the series-regular role of “JP Ford” in the comedy series, “Dan’s Detour of Life,” created by Chris Peterson and Bryan Moore from “That 70’s Show.”
