BIOGRAPHY Zach Gilford, born January 14, 1982, in Evanston, Chicago, Illinois, is an American actor who best known for his role as Matt Saracen on NBC's "Friday Night Lights."
Newcomer Gilford is a recent graduate of Northwestern University where he starred in productions of "Equus" and "The Laramie Project." Gilford landed his first acting role as Jimmy in the independent film, "Handbook to Casual Stalking (2003)." Not long after, he guest-starred in the popular NBC series, "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit."
In 2007, Gilford got his big break when he secured the role of Matt Saracen, a backup quarterback who, in the first game of the season, is unexpectedly thrust into the spotlight in the NBC television drama "Friday Night Lights." Gilford made his feature-film debut in 2006, starring in Larry Fessenden's "The Last Winter." He will also star in Rise: Blood Hunter (2007), opposite Michael Chiklis, a supernatural thriller in which a female reporter wakes up in a morgue to find herself a member of the undead.
