BIOGRAPHY Andy Samberg, born August 18, 1978, is an American stand-up comic, Emmy-nominated songwriter, and member of comedy group The Lonely Island. In 2007, Samberg played the lead role in the film Hot Rod.
Samberg is part of the current cast of "Saturday Night Live". He was originally a film student in college, but went on to become a comedian. Besides starring on "Saturday Night Live," and has appeared on Premium Blend and Arrested Development, as well as Late Night with Conan O'Brien, The Daily Show With Jon Stewart, and The Late Show with David Letterman. In 2007, Samberg got his big break when he starred in “Hot Rod,” his feature film debut. The film is produced by “SNL” executive producer Lorne Michaels, directed by Schaffer and stars Taccone, alongside Oscar winner Sissy Spacek, Ian McShane (“Deadwood”), Isla Fisher (“Wedding Crashers”) and fellow “SNL” castmate Bill Hader.
Starting out in Los Angeles, Samberg worked with Schaffer and Taccone as “The Lonely Island,” whose short films were showcased on the popular “untelevised television network” show and website: Channel 101.com. Some of their popular shorts included the “O.C.” parody, “The ‘Bu,” and their full length pilot, “Awesometown.” The comedy trio “The Lonely Island,” were honored by Wired Magazine with a “Wired Rave Award” in 2006.
