Thomas Jane

Displaying astonishing versatility with a wide range of upcoming films, Tom Jane combines a leading man's profile with a character actor's art of performance.

Jane stars as the title character in the big-screen adaptation of Marvel Comic's "The Punisher," for Lions Gate Entertainment in theaters now. For his role as undercover FBI agent Frank Castle, Jane underwent extensive training with former Navy SEALS. In the story, Castle's family is executed as a repercussion from his final undercover assignment. With unparalleled intensity, ferocious intelligence and fearless actions, Castle seeks to punish the murderers and finds the one thing he least expected: redemption.

Jane's next project to hit theatres is "Stander" for director Bronwen Hughes, which was acquired by Newmarket Films after critical acclaim at the 2003 Toronto Film Festival. Based on a true story, Jane stars in the title role as a South African police officer who, in the early 1980s, turned to a life of crime, robbing as many as four banks a day.

Jane starred as baseball legend Mickey Mantle in HBO's Emmy nominated "61*." Helmed by Billy Crystal, "61*" tells the story of the race to break Babe Ruth's single-season home run record, waged in 1961 between the New York Yankees' Roger Maris and Mickey Mantle (Barry Pepper).

Most recently, Jane starred in Lawrence Kasdan's "Dreamcatcher," opposite Morgan Freeman, Tom Sizemore, Donnie Wahlberg and Timothy Olyphant.

Jane is well-known for his starring role in the Renny Harlin thriller, "Deep Blue Sea," also starring Samuel L. Jackson, Saffron Burrows and LL Cool J. He also received critical praise for his performance in Paul Thomas Anderson's "Boogie Nights," opposite Mark Wahlberg, Julianne Moore, John C. Reilly, Burt Reynolds, Don Cheadle and William H. Macy. The cast was nominated for a 1998 SAG Award for Best Ensemble Performance by a Cast in a Theatrical Motion Picture.

Other film roles include Neal Cassady in Stephen Kay's independent drama "The Last Time I Committed Suicide," opposite Keanu Reeves and Claire Forlani; and Lance Lane's "Junked," reprising the role he originated in the stage production at the Marilyn Monroe Theatre.
