BIOGRAPHY David Degen, born February 15, 1983 in Hölstein, is a Swiss footballer currently playing for FC Basel.
Degen played for FC Aarau and FC Basel before joining Borussia Mönchengladbach in 2006. However, after the club's relegation into the 2nd Bundesliga, Borussia manager Jos Luhukay sorted him out of the squad. David Degen joined his former club FC Basel for a year on loan. He has a contract at M'gladbach until June 30, 2009. Degen mostly plays as a right midfielder and was selected for the Swiss 2006 World Cup squad.
Degen was invited to Bolton Wanderers' pre-season training camp in Austria, with Bolton boss Sammy Lee looking to sign him for next season. Degen recently finished a trial with SPL champions Celtic FC and has expressed a desire to sign for the club.
