BIOGRAPHY Sonny Bill Williams, born August 3, 1985 in Auckland, New Zealand, is a rugby league player for the Canterbury Bulldogs in the National Rugby League competition and also for New Zealand.
Williams' position of choice is either in the second row or at lock, though he can also play at centre. One of the most valuable and highly rated players in world rugby league, his trademark shoulder-charges and superb skill have earned him many fans worldwide. Williams started his rugby career when he played for the Marist Saints in Auckland where he was picked up by the Canterbury Bulldogs at the age of just 15. His immense talent spotted early by the Bulldogs, who have a knack for great talent, producing guys such as Roy Asotasi, Jonathan Thurston and Willie Mason.
Once signed by the Bulldogs at age 16, Williams worked his way up through the grades at the club playing in the emerald junior rugby league competition where he displayed his natural ability at an early age being awarded as the SG Ball player of the year. In 2007, Williams has since been selected to play for New Zealand whenever he has been available, although injury has hampered his playing time. View GALLERY:
