Thomas Rupprath, born March 16, 1977 in Neuss, is a German olympic swimmer , who's nicknamed "The New Albatross".

A specialist in the backstroke and butterfly, especially in short course, Rupprath is currently the world record holder for the 50m backstroke both on the short (25m) and long course (50m), with a time of 24.80.
