David Schwimmer Injured In Bar Fight

David Schwimmer was rushed to hospital after a bar-room brawl left him needing stitches in a gashed forehead.

The actor was catching up with a friend at New York's Thompson Hotel when he got caught in an argument between two women that left a shard of glass in his head. Schwimmer's spokesman, Ina Treciokas, says, "A woman from across the bar flung a glass at another woman. They were apparently a little rowdy and drunk." Though one source claims the glass-thrower attacked Schwimmer, Treciokas insists that he was an accidental casualty.

She says, "He doesn't know either of the women. He just happened to be in the bar," adding that she believes they were guests at a record-release party for the Pet Shop Boys. Paramedics came to the scene of the bloody melee, but Schwimmer's injury was serious enough that, around 1.30 am, he sought emergency-room treatment at Lenox Hill hospital.

Treciokas says, "They gave him a couple of stitches to be safe. They're above his hairline, so they're not visible. He's fine now. He was not really shaken up."

Schwimmer has now returned to his home in Los Angeles. --WENN
