Lance Hoover

Hi! My name is Lance Hoover. I was born November 15, 1981, in Bridgeport, Connecticut, USA.

At the age of six, I moved to Florida, where I later attended Naples High. While in school, I lettered in wrestling and received several national honors in art for my work with oils, charcoals, and watercolors. I also received a National Painting award by Florida Representative Porter Goss.

I am currently attending the University of Central Florida, where I excel at academics. I am a member of the National Honor Society, the Phi Theta Kappa Honors Society, and was named to both the Dean’s and President’s lists. I am planning on graduating this spring with a degree in public administration. My emphasis is on economic development and non-profit work. I have additional plans to attend law school.

In my spare time, I enjoy oil painting, wake boarding, snow boarding, and video games. I am also an avid reader, finishing a book a week.

My biggest influence in life is my grandfather. At a young age, my grandfather passed away. He was my hero growing up. He was in hiding in Holland from the Germans and snuck over to America. He became an accomplished artist and taught me to value beauty in everything. He also taught me to take raw talent and transform something into a masterpiece. He really has been with me since he passed, guiding me through bad decisions and good decisions. I wear one of his priceless coins around my neck for luck, so I can carry something of my past with me at all times.

Another influence is my cousin Brook, who passed away last spring in an auto accident on her 18th birthday. Her passing taught me to value life and every day you are given because you don’t know what day could be your last. Because of her, I try to live every day to the fullest and achieve my goals. Because of her, I started getting focused on modeling and fitness and entering competitions.
