My Father, The Hero is an excellent movie! It reflects the true feelings of a post pubescent who is on the brink of discovering the opposite sex.

It charmingly deals with Niki (Katherine Heigl) and her newfound feelings and experiences that every 14 year old undergoes.

In midst of the chaos that Niki caused as a result of her crush on Ben (Dalton James), the relationship with her father is endearing and heartening to watch.

This movie honestly portrays the innate feelings of a young woman. One scene is reminiscent of the balcony scene in Romeo and Juliet in which Niki proclaims her love for Ben with the help of her father.

The theme song "Oh, Father" performed by the Baha Men and played in the end credits sums up the movie.

With lyrics like "Can you accept me for who I am/Just for this moment please be my friend/I need to know you're there for me/I'll feel much better when I know/That you are ready to let me go/I've found someone I'd like to know"...It directly infers to Niki and her father Andre's relationship. His protective nature over his daughter and her resentment towards him because of his neglectfulness and crush on Ben is the foundation of the movie.

However, director Steve Miner develops it into a story that every teenager can relate to. From the moments of Niki's rebellion to when Andre(Niki's father) goes through the experience of letting his child go by putting his trust in her and finally understanding her just like a friend comprehends, is truly the essence of this movie!

This movie is funny , exciting and wonderful. To top it all, Dalton is just so hot without a shirt. He has the most amazing tanned skin and most capturing smile ever!
