Kian Egan

Blond-haired and blue-eyed Kian Egan is undoubtedly a favourite among Westlife's female and gay male fans.

Born in Sligo on 29 April 1980, Kian comes from a large family. Three brothers, Tom, Gavin and Colm, and three sisters, Vivienne, Marielle and Fenella, along with his parents, Kevin and Patricia, will all make sure that despite the fans adoration Kian will keep his feet on the ground. He sees that it is quite possible to have superstardom without becoming big-headed.

He's a Taurus and 1.75m tall and at school his favourite subjects were Art, Music and Building Construction. Now he's more concerned with looking after his body with regular visits to the gym.

His on stage confidence he attributes to his days working as a kissagram! It certainly took a lot of nerve to turn up at an all-female party dressed in only a pair of sequined trousers and a bowtie and then to proceed to recite a poem. Now, though, he believes Westlife are much more than a band of boys who simply remove their T-shirts in order to have the fans screaming - with Kian and Westlife it's the music that is most important. His other former part-time job working in a clothes shop is where he no doubt discovered his love of Dolce & Gabbana and other designers like Alexander McQueen and Nicole Farhi. A talented musician he plays both the guitar and the piano. Indeed, his ideal home would have, alongside stables and lots of horses, a special music room with a collection of musical instruments a grand piano where he could spend his time away from all distractions.

Although he is definitely not a morning person and has the bad habit of biting his nails he does know how to have fun. When he was younger and played football for a local team he liked nothing better than flashing his bare backside at passing cars! His good naturedness extends to his attitude to Westlife's fans. He loves having them scream at him and loves meeting them as well - unlike many stars he recognises it's the fans who put him in the position he is today.

The hectic lifestyle the boys lead, however, means he has no time for a girlfriend at the moment. When things settle down and he eventually does have time he doesn't rule out that it could be a fan, as he says
'You never know who you're going to fall in love with, so you can't make rules'.

A self-confessed romantic, his ideal woman needs to be good-looking (his favourite actress is Cameron Diaz) but a fun personality is just as important.

Blond Kian is sensitive and a dreamer and as Shane says: 'He gets really upset when other people argue or fight. It's extremely important for Kian that there's harmony among people.

His taste in music is certainly varied. Before Westlife, he was in three local rock groups and the first record he in fact bought was by Metallica. On the other hand the first concert he saw was Michael Jackson, who is still his musical idol.
