Originally wanted to be a marine biologist, he made his acting debut at age 14 in the movie, "Monster in the Closet", and has since gone on to star in movies such as "Joy Ride", "Running Scared", and the critically-acclaimed "Eight Below". Sambag's Mailbox: Straight roommate sending me mixed signals?

Dear Sambag,

I am in college, and my current roommate is an absolute stunner. He's smart, friendly, really into sports, and has an amazing body. He knows I'm gay, and even though he says he's straight, he works out shirtless when I'm in the room and doesn't say anything when he catches me looking. He also sometimes "jokes" with me about hooking up. Could he be sending me signals that he wants to experiment?

I think your straight roommate just likes the attention. He obviously knows he has some power over you.

The only way to ever find out if your roommate wants to go beyond that friendship level is to play along with his teasing. Next time he makes a joke, just say, "Look man, I don't mean to make this uncomfortable, but you are only joking about us hooking up, right?"

If he responds with a smile on his face, well then, it should become pretty clear. But if he hesitates and kind of gives off a stiff feeling, you might want to reconsider. In the meantime, continue to be his friend and care about him.
